Computer Science

My background in computer science came from learning Matlab to build and solve mathematical models for finance and economics. As such, I felt that I had some gaps in my knowledge. Moreover, since Matlab is a higher level programming language, I was very eager to learn C++ as this is also an industry standard in the HFT world. As such I came across Harvard and Yale’s CS50 course on edX. The course is taught with C as its main building block, but there there are also some bits in PHP, JavaScript, SQL, CSS, and HTML. I believe in later additions they have now removed some stuff and given a bigger weight to Python.

I can’t recommend this course enough, Harvard have thrown so many resources into putting this together, and it is certainly full of cool stuff, amazing problem sets, lectures and there is also a final project. If you want to learn Computer Science then it doesn’t get any better than this.
